Objective

The objective of the placement rotation is to consolidate and strengthen theoretical knowledge and practical skills of students acquired during different years of study within the framework of the RSU study programme “Medicine” in order to prepare students for further practical work.
The placement rotation is a practical format for the organisation of medical studies involving integration in medical treatment teams.

Prerequisites

Preliminary knowledge acquired during preclinical and clinical study courses.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

After the acquisition of the study course, the student will have gained knowledge and will be able to analyse and understand lab tests and examination methods of patients of different profiles; will gain knowledge about emergency assistance in different situations; will know and recognise the symptoms and algorithms of development of different diseases – examination and treatment tactics, will know how to make evidence-based recommendations, will be able to apply critical thinking and synthesise knowledge.

Skills

Will know how to take patient history, perform a physical examination of patients, carry out diagnostic examinations and therapy, diagnose the patient, educate the patient on health and disease prevention matters, provide emergency treatment, draft medical documentation, use information and communication technologies, respect general and professional ethics, organise own work and team work.

Competence

The competences obtained during the study course will allow for a targeted and structured identification of the patient’s history, allow for linking the various components and symptoms of pathological processes that affect it, allow for assessment of the patient’s health condition, interpretation of normality and deviation from the norm, and for attributing the finding and the specific situation, and for deciding on further tactics of action. Will allow for the identification of acute medical conditions, the organisation of timely provision of assistance, the interpretation of the results of various examinations and formulation of the appropriate conclusion, the planning of treatment tactics. The acquired competences will allow performing manipulations corresponding to the respective pathological status, fill out medical records in accordance with the requirements of regulatory enactments.
