Objective

To learn the basic knowledge of nutrition, which would contribute to the growth of sports results under various types of physical loads;
Develop an understanding of athletes' nutrition depending on age, gender, physical characteristics and other related factors;
Gain insight into anti-doping issues.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge in nutrition, physiology and biochemistry.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

• Describes and compares nutrition for different physical activities;
• Names the effect of nutritional supplements on sports results;
• Outlines the athlete's nutrition depending on age, gender, physical characteristics and other related factors.

Skills

• Calculates and prepares a nutrition plan appropriate for the type of sport;
• Obtains information about preparations that contain substances prohibited in sports;
• Differentiates the nutritional needs of athletes in different age groups.

Competence

• Understands the loads of different sports, the required amount of energy provided by nutrition;
• Orients himself and knows where to find information about prohibited substances in sports;
• Adapts the nutritional strategy to physical activities for different age groups.
