About Study Course
Objective
To provide the necessary theoretical and practical knowledge about self-defence methodology, organisation and management of classes in learning elements of self-defence. To provide knowledge of peculiarities, content, principles, methods and means of organising the self-defence study process. To teach skills to use self-defence techniques; to improve physical characteristics and psychological fitness.

Learning outcomes
1. Knows and understand situations for the use of self-defence techniques.
2. Knows how to act in accordance with legislation on the use of self-defence techniques.
3. Able to demonstrate safe self-defence posture, movement and cannon-ball, when falling.
4. Knows and is able to assess the situation, explains the possibilities and necessity for the use of self-defence techniques.
5. Can demonstrate and teach appropriate posture, falls from different positions on different parts of the body, as well as defensive techniques against arm and leg hits.
6. Knows self-defence techniques for avoiding and getting out of opponent’s holds and grasps, throws and strangle holds.
7. Able to demonstrate and use skills to effectively combine learning principles, methods and means by organising the learning process.
8. Able to analyse, synthesise, and evaluate the organisation and leading of self-defence classes.
9. Able to act and provide first aid in accordance with the Latvian legislation.
10. Able to creatively organise a study environment appropriate for the objective and tasks of studies, choose study aids in learning self-defence by integrating health and safety content, other subject areas, transversal skills and values.
11. Able to identify security hazards and risks in different environments and situations in the process of self-defence, take preventive safety measures, choosing the most appropriate problem-solving strategies.
