About Study Course
Objective
To provide students with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in the care of a healthy child, as well as on the most common diseases of children's age and their care and prevention measures. To provide students with knowledge about women's reproductive health, its promotion, the peculiarities of care at different stages of a woman's life. To create an understanding of the course of physiological pregnancy, childbirth and postnatal care
Prerequisites
Anatomy and physiology, pathological physiology, clinical pharmacology and drug treatment, transcultural patient care, interpersonal communication, general care process.
Learning outcomes
As a result of the study course acquisition, students will gain knowledge about the main aspects of reproductive health and childbirth care, women's life periods, physiological pregnancies and postpartum processes, as well as the care of newborns and children and the care of healthy and sick children; will acquire knowledge about the education of children and their relatives in health promotion and disease prevention.
As a result of the study course acquisition, students will be able to collect a gynecological history, perform a vaginal examination and take a cytological smear, perform a breast self-examination. Will be able to practically signify and explain the results of examinations to a pregnant woman during antenatal care in the case of a physiologically ongoing pregnancy, will be able to identify risk factors to prevent abnormal pregnancy. Will be able to assess the postpartum period. As a result of mastering the study course, students will also be able to use the acquired knowledge in practical work; to provide care for newborns, infants and children in outpatient practice; to recognize and solve problems of care of patients with pediatric diseases; to educate patients and their relatives; to provide psychological support to patients and their relatives; to communicate with patients and their relatives, taking into account their age, gender, state of health, personal characteristics and respecting the principles of professional ethics and patients' rights. Develop, set and address care priorities for pediatric patient care. Will be able to obtain, analyze and document anamnesis (subjective and objective) data, identify care needs based on assessment, formulate existing and potential care problems in a structured way. Will be able to recognize the clinical symptoms of the groups of diseases characteristic of the child's age, the principles of diagnostic and treatment methods and provide emergency care.
Will be able to explain the need for screening diagnostic tests, identify pregnancy risk factors, perform basic antenatal care, provide optimal postpartum care. Will be able to plan, provide and manage the care process for a child with acute and chronic illness. Will be able to independently obtain, select, analyze information in the care process. Will be able to identify patient care problems and correct them at all levels of care according to the patient's illness. Will be able to educate the patient during care, health prevention and rehabilitation.
