Objective

1. Train students in the interpretation and analysis of electrocardiography data. 2. Learn in practice the relationship between instrumental examination and clinical findings. Develop analytical thinking based on ECG. 3. Train to interpret the details of ECG finding in the context of different clinical situations. 4. Present the most common pathologies and their features in ECG, for diagnosis of which electrocardiography is one of the main examinations. 5. Promote the development of student clinical thinking.

Prerequisites

Normal and pathological physiology, introductory course to ECG, basics of the ECG at the level of the programme covered during the 3rd year of study, cardiovascular diseases within the course of internal medicine, basics of clinical arrhythmology and basics of anaesthesiology and intensive care.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Demonstrate grasp of the latest medical technologies, examination methods and scientific disciplines. Sequentially arrange the obtained information, identify possible risk factors. Recognize the possible level of pathology of the context of the data obtained. At the end of studies, students will have acquired the basics of clinical electrocardiography; they have a grasp of the diagnosis of myocardial ischaemic changes and heart rhythm disorders and modern methods in treating the heart rhythm disorders.

Skills

Able to analyse ECG, differentiate signs of pathology from the norm. Have a grasp of the range of possible physiological norms, to distinguish the permissible deviations from pathology. Know the basic principles of treatment of certain heart rhythm disorders and diagnostic principles of myocardial ischaemia.

Competence

Evaluate the acquired symptoms, linking them with pathological processes in the patient's body. Interpret the findings, relate them to a specific clinical situation and link them to the overall examination process. Interpret the changes on the ECG, relate them to a specific clinical situation and link them to the overall examination process. Able to analyse situations, substantiate, logically formulate and explain their own opinion.
