About Study Course
Objective
To gain knowledge about interaction between person and cultural environment and its influence on occupation and therapy process.
Prerequisites
Fundamentals of occupational therapy, knowledge about human functioning, concept of interaction between person-environment-occupation and influencing factors, general psychology, philosophy and ethics.
Learning outcomes
After completing the course students will be able:
• to name and characterize main elements of culture;
• to explain the influence of cultural environment on human occupation;
• to recognize main risk factors for occupational deprivation among refugees and asylum seekers;
• to explain the concept of diversity and its aspects in relation to occupations.
After completing the course students will gain or improve following skills:
• to explain his own attitude towards different groups of population;
• to search, select and present literature on particular topic;
• to interview persons and gain information about their occupations and factors influencing them;
• to analyze the impact of cultural environment on persons everyday occupation performance.
After completing the course students will be able:
• to use the acquired knowledge in working with people of different nationalities and cultures, promoting the social, economic and political inclusion of all citizens, regardless of age, gender, disability, race, ethnicity, origin, religious belief or economic or other status in accordance with the UN Sustainable Development Goals;
• to create a therapy plan based on knowledge about sociocultural factors;
• to analyse everyday situations according to knowledge about ethical aspects of OT work.
