Objective

The objective of the course is to deepen the students’ understanding of various aspects of disability and the factors that affect it, as well as the mutual interaction between work capacity and health and possibilities for evaluation thereof, the importance of rehabilitation in promoting work capacity and social integration in the aftermath of illness.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of the World Health Organisation (WHO) International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. To understand various aspects of functioning – body function and structure, activities and participation, as well as their interaction with the state of health and contextual factors.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

In-depth theoretical knowledge of current developments in the evaluation of work-related health.

Skills

To apply comprehensive principles of work capability assessment.

Competence

Will be able to advise persons with health and functional limitations on issues of rehabilitation, social and professional integration, issues of health risks, assessment thereof and health promotion when returning to the work environment, as well as assessment of disease consequences from the biopsychosocial aspect.
