Obstetrics and Gynaecology Academic Society
The Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) Obstetrics and Gynaecology Academic Society is a group for students at RSU who have an interest in the fields of obstetrics and gynaecology, or have a curiosity for the speciality!
We meet once a month for theoretical meetings, where students present presentations they have prepared themselves on various relevant topics. At these meetings, students expand their knowledge and gain experience presenting in front of an audience. Our mentor is Dr Zane Grabe and she, together with any guest mentors in attendance, answer students' questions and provide valuable in depth comments about the topic.
In the group's practical meetings, members have the opportunity to learn the skills necessary for the Ob/Gyn specialty. Hands-on sessions at the Medical Education Technology Center (METC) using mannequins and simulators (e.g., gynecological laparoscopy, vaginal birth simulator, suturing work-shops) to teach surgical and delivery management skills.
All our meetings are in English, and everyone is welcome to join as an active or passive member. Application for active member status is open in the beginning of each academic semester.
