Aim

Encourage the commercialization of research results by creating a new product that will have a direct impact on the quality, quantity and safety of raw materials produced by dairy farming

The specific objective of the project is to select a new product - an immunomodulator with an antibacterial effect, for the most effective composition for the treatment of mastitis and prevention for cows and to develop a scheme for its application

Description

Within the frameworks of the project a new product will be selected - an immunomodulator with an antibacterial effect, for the most effective composition for the treatment of mastitis and prevention for cows and to develop a scheme for its application. The introduction of such a product on the market will have a direct impact on the quality, safety and quantity of products produced by dairy farmers, and will also have an impact on public health. The formation of antibiotic-resistant microorganisms and their entry into the food chain will be limited, as well as the reduction of allergic reactions arising from antibiotic-by-product residues in milk products and meat
An alternative treatment and prophylaxis for antibiotics will be offered on the market, the costs of which are cheaper and which will allow dairy products to be used at the time of treatment, without a negative effect on human health

Activities of the project

  • Selection and testing of natural immunomodulatory composition with the highest antimicrobial activity in vitro - within the framework of the activity it is planned to create several compositions (different concentrations, components) and submit for publication in the scientific article journal included in the international database
  • Determination of antibacterial activity of the composition against the most typical mastitis causative agents in cows in vitro, selection of optimal compositions - as a result of activity, it is planned to detect 1-2 compositions with the best antibacterial activity in vitro

  • Development and testing of optimal compositions for administration in vivo (clinical observations / field experiments), dynamically determining the number of somatic cells in the milk and the number of immunocompetent cells and their functional activity in the bloodstream: it is planned to determine the optimum drug administration regimen for the best immunomodulatory and antibacterial effects and submit for publication in a magazine included in an international database
  • A drug for the prevention and treatment of mastitis in cows: an immuno-modulator with an antibacterial effect - an optimal immunomodulator with an antibacterial activity composition has been defined, optimal doses of the preparation have been defined and administration scheme - it is planned that a new product will be created within the framework of this activity. The patent application (PCT) is scheduled to be submitted by 31 August 2015, within two years it is planned to receive a positive decision of the competent institution
