Aim

Promote the inclusion of young people with autism spectrum diseases in education and society, improve their quality of live and reduce their exclusion by creating a supportive environment, providing a training course “Personal Assistant to Children with Function Disorders”, based on specially developed learning materials and aids

Description

Activities of the project

  • Develop a professional training education programme in the amount of 360 hours for pedagogues, parents and professionals working with youngsters with autism spectrum disorders, which contain theoretical explanations with an in-depth introductory course in medicine, as well as recommendations for classes, practical examples
  • Develop methodological materials to be used in lectures on the use of rehabilitation aids, supplementing it with visualization samples to be used in the practical part
  • Testing a new training programme in the training process of pedagogues, parents and youngsters
  • Prepare and informative leaflet in order to explain the society on autism awareness
  • Ensure the availability of information in virtual environment by placing the information on the website www.autisms.lv
  • Prepare a collection of the best, practically used examples and explanations

Target group of the project

  • 12 students aged 15-18 years, which have been identified with autistic spectrum disorders
  • 12 educators who work with young people with autism spectrum disorders
  • 12 parents whose children have autism spectrum disorders

The project was implemented in cooperation with Riga 1st Special Boarding Primary School, Riga 3rd Special Primary School, Riga 5th Special Boarding Primary School, Liepaja Special School and The Autism Society of Latvia
