Objective

To familiarise students with animation, video and other audiovisual media tools, methods and techniques, as well as the general picture and branches of modern audiovisual culture. When providing an insight into the use and techniques of these digital media, the creation of image and narrative, the most important elements of creation of images and sound and their interaction, composition of the image and digital editing, as well as interactivity will be emphasised. Students will be familiarised with the bases of formation of audiovisual messages for different uses and environments, as well as the process of their implementation. The skill to work in team will be developed in this course.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students will be able to characterise the concept of animation as a type of visual communication and its types.
Will know how to compare and analyse animation messages and approaches.
Will know animation elements, composition and editing principles.

Skills

Will be able to draft an animation story and use narrative patterns.
Will know how to use theoretical knowledge on animation in practice.
Will be able to independently create visual communication works in animation.
Will be able to autonomously arrange animation elements, using main causalities in creation of composition and narrative.

Competence

Will be able to autonomously and professionally critically evaluate available resources for planning and implementation of an audiovisual project.
Will be able to responsibly and ethically obtain and produce relevant necessary materials to start production of an animation.
Will be able to competently select appropriate audiovisual technologies for a message.
Will demonstrate critical attitude to the narrative structure, message, selection of images and use of audiovisual elements when creating an animated image work.
