About Study Course
Objective
To develop the knowledge, skills and competence of MA students to assess patients' physical and psychological condition as well as social situation, difficulties and resources, as well as suitability or risks or contraindications for arts therapy process. To develop the skill to choose and use the evaluation and assessment instruments, appropriate for the specificity of the group of clients/ patients in rehabilitation, psychiatry and social care, as well as to set therapy goals.
Prerequisites
Professional activity in arts therapy and its legal fundaments, Individual counselling and psycho-dynamics in arts therapies, Assessment principles and process in arts therapy, Psychology of personality and development, Medical rehabilitation and teamwork.
Learning outcomes
Name and characterise the main arts (in specialisation) based and other relevant assessment instruments utilised for assessing the individual patients in psychiatry, rehabilitation and social care. Characterise the basic principles of co-operation and communication with patient/ his or her custodian as well as other specialists of the team.
Assess the patient and formulate goals and tasks according to the bio-psycho-social approach. Utilise assessment instruments and interventions. Compare and explain differences between artistic expressions of different clients/ patients. Analyse non-verbal communication of the patient within the arts therapy context.
Apply arts based and other relevant assessment instruments; register the assessment process and results according to the chosen assessment instruments.
