Objective

Mastering of main movements of outdoor activities – skiing, participating in and leading safe health promoting outdoor winter activities, which are the basis for strengthening physical health, mastering experience, knowledge and skills. Tools and movement methods according to the situation, for identification and prevention of risks choosing personal supplies for yourself and others.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1. Planning, organising and leading cross-country skiing study process and classes.
2. Methods, techniques and aids following an individualised approach according to age, gender and level of development.
3. Skiing classes and activities observing safety regulations and outdoor environmental factors.
4. Preparation of cross-country skiing equipment for sports classes and events based on outdoor environmental conditions and material and technical support.
5. Different teaching methods, forms and technologies in study work and consistency between the objectives of the class, the aids used and learning outcomes.

Skills

6. To demonstrate state pre-school education guidelines, the requirements of the state basic education standard and the state secondary education standard in the field of studies concerning the content of skiing.
7. Skiing materials and technical equipment – equipment, clothing, footwear, their choice, preparation and maintenance.
8. To prepare the plan and content of skiing lessons and events, on the structure of skiing movement types, the teaching methodology of movement types.
9. To evaluate the rules and organisation of the safety and measures of the study process.
10. In an individual approach, to choose the content of the class according to the age and learning peculiarities of pupils.
11. To assess the pupil’s achievements and personality growth.

Competence

12. Ability to plan an interdisciplinary and individualised learning process at all stages of education.
13. Ability to critically analyse and evaluate the pedagogical aids, methods, techniques and aids used, their compliance with the abilities of pupils and education goals in diverse health-promoting skiing activities.
14. To take responsibility for classes and safety of events.
15. Ability to provide feedback in the assessment of both the pupil and their activities.
16. Able to creatively choose study aids by integrating health and safety content, other subject areas, transversal skills and values.
17. Able to identify security hazards and risks in different environments and situations in skiing, take preventive safety measures, choosing the most appropriate problem-solving strategies.
