Objective

Assessment of communication, speech/language development in early childhood (up to 3 years of age). Assessment of communication, activity of structures involved in articulation, pronunciation of sounds in preschool and school-aged children. Planning and conducting classes.

Prerequisites

Theoretical knowledge in Pedagogy. Phonetics and Phonology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of completing the study course, the student will know how to evaluate speech/language, communication skills in children up to 3 years of age, will know how to evaluate the structures involved in articulation, sound pronunciation skills, and phonological processes. The student will be able to describe the methods and techniques to be used for the development of early childhood communication, speech/language. Will know about therapy options in cases of sound pronunciation disorders.

Skills

As a result of completing the study course, the student will be able to assess communication and language/speech in early childhood and preschool and school-age children with sound pronunciation disorders.
Will be able to analyse the results of the assessment.
Will plan the necessary classes and select, implement the necessary tasks, therapy directions for the development of communication, speech/language skills and disorder therapy. Will improve the ability to work independently and integrate the recommendations of the placement supervisors into the existing experience, will be able to fill in the documentation used by audio speech therapists.
Will be able to design visual aids, class plans, present experience gained during the placement.

Competence

As a result of successfully completing the study course, the student will be able to apply the acquired knowledge and practical skills in evaluating speech/language, communication skills in early childhood and preschool and school children with sound pronunciation disorders, and will plan and implement the necessary therapy.
