Objective

Help students to acquire basic knowledge of the legal provision of criminal law relations, knowledge of the practical course of criminal procedure, pre-trial criminal procedure, and general rules of legal proceedings based on the previously acquired knowledge in the general part of criminal proceedings.

Prerequisites

Introduction to Civil Law, Legal Theory, History of Latvian Law, Logic, Criminal Process. General Part.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Upon completion of the study course students become familiar with the practical course of the criminal procedure, know the investigative activities, the procedure for drawing up thereof, know the general rules of legal proceedings.

Skills

On completion of the course, students are familiar with the criminal procedure, are able to perform procedural activities, to apply the knowledge of the criminal procedure, to carry out analysis of the criminal procedure, to draw up criminal procedural documents.

Competence

On completion of the study course students are able to select and process legal information necessary for the completion of assignments independently or within working groups in order to draw up draft procedural documents.
