Objective

To provide knowledge acquisition about DNA analysis methods used in clinical practice.

Prerequisites

Knowledge in biology and chemistry acquired within the framework of general secondary education and basic knowledge in molecular biology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

1.Upon successful completion of the course the students will be able to interpret diagnosis of genetic disease by molecular methods.

Skills

1.Upon successful completion of the course students will be able to extract DNA from living cells, analyse mutation by gel electrophoresis, create a plan for the screening of genetic disease.

Competence

1.Students will be able to assemble theoretical knowledge and practical skills and to justify necessity of its usage in solution of clinical problems.
