About Study Course

Credit points / ECTS:2 / 3
Course supervisor:Evita Krasmane
Study type:Full time
Course level:Bachelor
Target audience:Medical Services
Language:Latvian
Study course descriptionFull description, Full time
Branch of science:Electrical Engineering; Theoretical Basics of Electrical Engineering

Objective

To develop understanding of the basic principles of electrical engineering and electronics, the basis and possibilities of modern electronic circuit elements, the possibilities and perspectives of using electronic devices in rehabilitation, including orthotics and prosthetics.

Prerequisites

Knowledge of mathematics and physics at secondary education level.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As a result of completing the course, the student is able to define the basic concepts of electronic engineering and electronics, describe the operation of semiconductor devices, and give examples of device applications. The student can name the functional components of analogue and digital electronic circuits, describe the functions and fields of application.

Skills

As a result of completing the course, the student is able to calculate simple passive circuits, simple operational amplifier circuits.

Competence

The student is able to analyse an orthotic/prosthetic system: identify physiological signals used, power source, actuators, identify system functions. The student identifies the problems that arise when using electronic and electrical circuits in orthotics/prosthetics.
