Objective

To develop students’ comprehension of the appropriate usage of medical terminology in English in the chosen speciality, to facilitate its practical usage, to develop students’ communication skills for use in studies and further work.

Prerequisites

Knowledge and skills of the English language at secondary school level and passed the centralized examination in English.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to:
• recognize and interpret the usage of medical terminology;
• comprehend and analyze medical texts;
• state one’s opinion and justify it using appropriate language structures.

Skills

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to
• efficiently use medical terminology for professional purposes;
• read or translate professional texts for occupational purposes;
• give guidlines in English to clients who need support-movement corrections and rehabilitation;
• prepare a report and deliver it in English.

Competence

On successful completion of the course, students will be able to apply practically the acquired knowledge and skills in their studies and professional work.
