About Study Course
Objective
The course aims to develop an understanding of the environment and the importance of modern assistive rehabilitation services realization; promote awareness on the principles of evaluation, selection and successful application of assistive technologies.
Prerequisites
Fundamentals of physical and rehabilitation medicine, the International classification of functioning and health, systems of assistive technology provision in Latvia and in Europe.
Learning outcomes
Students will be able to describe the assistive technology that can be used in the rehabilitation process. To understand the environment and context concepts and will be able to characterize the environment and person interactions.
Students will be able to use assessments for different components of environment, assess effects of assistive technology and environmental adaptation on a person's functional abilities according to their professional competence.
Students will be able to analyze and evaluate the need for environmental adaptations and use of technical aids according to students professional competence, capable to interact with fellow in multi-professional team, able to discuss and agree on the environment adaptations and the application of technology solutions to achieve rehabilitation goals.
