Objective

Raise awareness of various environmental components, factors and their role and impact on the health of the individual; acquire basic knowledge of civil protection.

Prerequisites

Preliminary knowledge of chemistry, biochemistry, physics, biology, microbiology and physiology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

• name and describe environmental factors that are harmful to human health in certain environmental conditions;
• define environmental health problems;
• specify the measures to be taken to reduce the risk of environmental pollution.

Skills

• recognise harmful environmental factors; and
• assess their level of risk.

Competence

• use the acquired knowledge on environmental health issues in own professional activities;
• make proposals, plan and take measures to improve environmental conditions and to eliminate or reduce shortcomings in the organisation of the working environment.
