About Study Course
Objective
To learn specific epidemiology (including field epidemiology) issues related to infectious diseases.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge in epidemiology and infectious diseases.
Learning outcomes
* will know the microbiological and epidemiological classification of infections,
* will know the historical aspects of infection research,
* will know the modes of transmission of infections and the appropriate preventive measures,
* will know the components of infection surveillance,
* will know the components of infection control programmes,
* will describe good practices in infection control,
* will name the basic epidemiological indicators of infections and know the formulae for calculation thereof,
* will define a pandemic, epidemic, outbreak, endemic,
* will describe the process and essence of vaccine efficacy studies,
* will explain the concept of herd immunity,
* will describe the connection of infections to oncological diseases,
* will know the objectives and steps of outbreak investigations,
* will describe the most important emergency infections.
* will be able to classify infections according to the microbiological or epidemiological characteristics,
* will be able to determine the appropriateness of specific infection control measures and programmes,
* will be able to solve problems on epidemiological indicators of infections,
* will know how to inform, educate and motivate the public about infection prevention measures,
* will be able to participate in the steps of an outbreak investigation.
