About Study Course
Objective
To use the theoretical knowledge in practice in the system of social work institutions.
Prerequisites
Knowledge about the organization of social work and social services: knowledge about the levels of social work practice; knowledge about clients of various target groups of social work; knowledge about methods in social work and social case management, and professional ethics.
Learning outcomes
During practice students:
• obtain improved understanding about the organization of social work and social services in the social work institutions in Latvia. Students get acquainted with the main functions of social work specialists, when working with various groups of clients/patients, etc.;
• obtain understanding of how to develop cooperation with different types of institutions.
During the practice students:
• develop observation and assessment skills;
• improve communication skills;
• demonstrate understanding of professional ethics and values;
• obtain observation of social case management skills;
• obtain skills to identify problem, to develop the goal of intervention, planning;
• observe the use of psychosocial working methods;
• participate in the solution on ethical dilemmas;
• develop the skills of team work.
Is able to use the knowledge and skills in practice.
