About Study Course
Objective
1. Get to know and understand the course of pharmaceutical development in the Ancient World and Europe, starting from the 5th century to the 20th century.
2. Learn the development of pharmaceuticals in the Baltics and the history of Riga pharmacies.
Prerequisites
Prior knowledge of world and Latvian history is required.
Learning outcomes
As a result of studying the study course, the student:
1. You will learn to systematize the main periods of pharmaceutical development in Europe and the Baltics.
2. You will learn to explain the contribution of the most prominent scientists to the development of pharmaceuticals.
3. Will be able to navigate the history of the first pharmacies in Riga.
The student will be able to explain the origin of pharmacy and justify its development in different periods of time, evaluating the impact of certain scientific theories and achievements on pharmacy, will be able to find and apply evidence-based information.
As a result of the study course, the student will be able to understand and evaluate the direction of pharmaceutical development through the centuries and will be able to see the close historical connection between the course of pharmaceutical development in Europe and Latvia.
