Objective

To provide theoretical and practical knowledge about developmental mechanisms and aetiology of infectious diseases in human body in correlation with clinical symptoms and possibility of treatment and specific or etiological therapy, as well as about prophylactic methods against infectious diseases, control of spread of infectious diseases, impact on public health and quality of life of each individual.

Prerequisites

Anatomy, biology, physiology, pathologic physiology , microbiology, internal diseases, neurology, surgery and pharmacology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students will be able to characterize/describe and classify infectious diseases according to etiological factor, prevailing symptoms, which are important during orthotic-prosthetic works, will know principles of diseases prevention and control.

Skills

Students will be able to develop action plan for diagnosis and treatment of disease of the patient; to implement the created plan based on collected anamnesis and data obtained from laboratory tests and other investigations; to evaluate data of physical examination of the patient.

Competence

To communicate successfully with patients, their relatives and medical professionals as regards diagnostics, differential diagnosis, prevention and treatment of infectious diseases; to provide patient care in cooperation with patients, their relatives and medical experts, while respecting patients’ rights and norms of medical ethics; to study independently and use e-health medical resources for communication with other students and colleagues.
