About Study Course
Objective
To introduce and provide a basic understanding of internal diseases by analysing the history, physical examination findings and the role and results of laboratory and radiological investigations.
Prerequisites
Normal anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology.
Learning outcomes
Will know: Aspects of medical history, principles of physical examination. Will be able to recognize the basics of internal diseases: COPD, pneumonia, bronchitis, bronchial asthma, lung cancer, coronary heart disease (incl. acute coronary syndrome), chronic heart failure, arterial hypertension, gastric and duodenal ulcer, inflammatory bowel disease, liver disease, urinary tract infection, chronic kidney disease, osteoarthritis, crystal arthropathy, rheumatoid arthritis, spondyloarthritis, key findings on systemic connective tissue diseases.
Will learn how to collect anamnesis in a structured way. Perform a physical examination. Analyse history and physical examination data, laboratory and radiological findings and their relevance to the care of internal medicine patients.
To make a diagnosis, differentiate between different internal diseases, justify own opinion. Decide whether a patient needs to consult another specialist. Provide assistance in the area of own competence, including treatment.
