Objective

To develop a broad understanding of the fundamental principles of law, to provide knowledge on the place and role of law in a democratic and developed society, the subjects under investigation, and the legal profession. To provide an understanding of civil law as one of the sub-branches of law, the nature and content of civil law relations, the objects and subjects of civil law, and the rights and obligations of civil law subjects. To develop the skills to critically assess and distinguish legal relations from a violation of law, to find applicable law, to apply it in solving specific cases, to prepare necessary procedural documents. To substantiate one’s opinion using legal doctrine, legislation, general principles of law, and case law.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

More extensive knowledge and understanding of law as social norms, the place and role thereof in the regulation of life of the society and its individuals, and current trends in the development of law. The student knows the sources of civil law, principles of civil law, is able to name the objects and subjects of civil law, knows their qualifying features, can describe notions such as legal capacity, understands their place and role in the legal system. The student has knowledge of the institutions of civil relations law.

Skills

As a result of completing the study course, students are able to independently select the necessary sources of civil law, including laws and regulations, know how to identify civil relations and distinguish between legal relations and delict, civil relations and other legal relations, able to analyse and prepare general documents, as reflections on civil law issues, formulate problems and offer comprehensive solutions that include arguments and correspond to the legal system on general civil law issues.

Competence

Students are able to independently select and analyse information on general civil law issues, follow the latest development trends, discuss them, express a reasoned opinion, constantly improve their knowledge.
