Objective

Develop new skills and strengthen students' skills to perform research, to get ready them for scientific project to acquire bachelor's degree of science in health care, continue to develop the skills for discussions about importance of research for the development of rehabilitation and to use of research results in practice (evidence based practice).

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge and skills in biometry, research methodology, knowledge about assessment measures in rehabilitation and assessment of functioning based on ICF, knowledge about public health.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

As the result of study course acquisition student will deepen the knowledge of the research process, the knowledge of qualitative research (case study), a systematic review, as well as knowledge of the laws and regulations governing research activities in Latvia and at RSU.

Skills

As the result of study course acquisition student will be able to formulate and justify a research problem; prepare and defend the proposal for bachelor thesis; increase skills in a systematic search of the scientific literature and critical analysis of scientific publications in field; to look for scientific evidence to answer on clinical questions.

Competence

As the result of study course acquisition student will be able to practically apply the acquired knowledge and skills in critical analysis of scientific publications in the specialty, for independent research on a chosen topic and prepare a report on the study results (written report, presentation, poster).
