About Study Course
Objective
To raise awareness, improve knowledge and skills in abdominal surgical care principles; to get acquainted with the principles of surgical procedures; to improve the knowledge of surgical materials, equipment and their practical application; to promote practical application of the acquired knowledge.
Prerequisites
Anatomy, Physiology, Microbiology, Pathological Anatomy, Pharmacology, Clinical Pharmacology, Anesthesiology and Reanimatology, Infection Control, Latin.
Learning outcomes
On successful completion of the course students will be able to explain the basic diagnosis of abdominal surgery and will be able to explain the terms and abbreviations; will have acquired basic knowledge in different surgical methods and stages; surgical instruments, equipment; sutures types and their use; patient positioning and possible post-operative complications.
On completion of the course the student will be able to prepare the operating room, the necessary equipment and instruments for abdominal operations, recognize the instruments used, use special equipment or accessories for the type of surgery, prepare and use the suturing hemostatic material used during abdominal operations.
Educating patients on abdominal surgery as well as managing intra-operative care. Keep track of the progress and stages of the operation to provide the operation team with tools or equipment for the current and subsequent stages.
