About Study Course
Objective
The aim of the course is to provide knowledge and understanding of diseases of the oral mucosa, their manifestations in the mouth and the relationship with the etiology and diagnosis of general diseases and to involve general practitioners in the treatment of the patient.
Prerequisites
Knowledge of anatomy and oral morphology.
Learning outcomes
At the end of the course the student will know:
• Anatomy and histology of oral mucosa. Appearance of healthy oral mucosa.
• Primary and secondary lesions of oral mucosal diseases, classification of diseases of oral mucosa.
• Etiology and appearance of diseases characterized by vesiculobullous lesions.
• Etiology and appearance of diseases characterized by ulcerative lesions.
• Etiology and appearance of diseases characterized by white lesions.
• Red and red/white lesions in oral mucosa, pigmented lesions and papillary lesions.
• Appearance of systemic conditions and diseases in oral mucosa.
• Peculiarities of the lip and the tongue and pathological developments.
• Appearance of HIV infection and AIDS in oral mucosa.
• To perform an examination of the oral mucosa, to collect a full history from the patient, to analyze the patient's complaints.
• To perform patient complaints to the clinical picture of the disease and perform diagnosis based on disease classification.
• Decide to prescribe the necessary additional laboratory examinations, to involve general practitioners in the complex treatment of the patient.
As a result of the study course, students will be able to apply the knowledge acquired practically and theoretically about diseases of the oral mucosa, will be able to differentiate various changes in the oral mucosa and will be able to give specific recommendations for the need for treatment.
