About Study Course
Objective
To acquire basic knowledge about the principles of health care organization. Create an idea of the place and role of the chosen profession in health care. Promote the acquisition of knowledge and the formation of awareness of the existing regulatory framework in health care - the rights and obligations of medical personnel, patients, storage of medical documentation, protection of personal data.

Learning outcomes
Knows the internationally accepted basic values on which health policy is based; main international and Latvian health policy documents. Knows about the organization and financing of healthcare, social assistance and education systems, financing models of rehabilitation services and public and private (client) responsibility in this area.
As a result of studying the study course, students acquire knowledge about medical personnel, rights and obligations of patients, protection of personal data, storage of medical documentation. Students will have developed an understanding of medical law, its importance in the processes of social life and professional activity.
Will identify the necessary provision of the professional aspects of the medical assistant in the organizational structure and management of the health care of the Latvian state. Students will understand the legal aspects of the profession - medical law, incl. rights and obligations of medical practitioners, patients and medical documentation record-keeping. Students will be able to apply applicable legislation in professional activities and situations that may arise in daily work.
Will be able to plan and organize your work and workplace, working independently or in a team. Will be able to comply with the requirements of regulatory acts in the medical field in the professional field. Will be able to professionally organize their activities, according to the professional standard. Students will be able to apply medical law - a medical practitioner, will understand the rights and obligations of patients, will learn to protect personal data, incl. medical documentation, as well as know their rights and responsibilities as a healthcare worker. Will be able to analyse, evaluate, synthesize and develop recommendations on individual aspects of the healthcare system; analyse basic principles of the quality management system.
