Objective

To acquire the basic knowledge of orthopedic footwear manufacturing, customization according to the patient diagnoses.

Prerequisites

The background knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics and physiology and orthotics with soft and rigid orthoses is required.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Basic knowledge of orthopedic footwear products. Upon completion of the study course, students recognize cases in which there is the need to apply orthopedic footwear, in footwear systematization, the stages of production, main components of footwear and their role in solving the orthopedic problem.

Skills

Upon completion of the study course, students will be able to evaluate the patients who require orthopedic shoes and name the purpose for application of orthopedic shoes, chose type of production and create preferred shoe design specification. Will be able to perform specific measurements and draw up specifications for shoe production.

Competence

Upon completion of the course students will develop the competence to analyze the need for orthopedic shoe, options of choice, and to assess the shoe appropriateness.
