About Study Course
Learning outcomes
1. Understands child age periods as well as focus on key features and risk factors in relation to nutrient requirements for each age period.
2. Knows the principles for assessing the physical development and feeding of a child.
3. Understands the special features and factors in the composition of a child's gastrointestinal tract that influence food selection and menu composing.
4. Understands the basic principles of composing the menu during pregnancy and breast-feeding period, as well as possibilities of the promotion of breastfeeding, infant nutrition principles and the use of breast-milk substitutes.
5. Understands the principles of catering for toddler, children and adolescents, as well as the nutritional standards for drawing up menus
6. Understands the requirements for setting up a menu for children with different diseases covered by the course
7. Knows and understands the manifestation of the various diseases in children's age and the importance of nutrition in their treatment and prevention
1. Independently and/or in team draws up a menu for a healthy child and appreciates its nutritional value.
2. Independently and/or in team draws up a child's menu in case of different pathologies and assesses its nutritional value.
3. Evaluates the symptoms of a lack of micro- and macro-nutrients in children and adolescents.
1. Independently and responsibly integrates the knowledge of paediatric diseases with nutritional treatment; is able to choose as well as to discuss and critically assess the choice of different types of diet in the case of child diseases.
2. Capable to contribute in critical analysis and evaluation of current, complex research issues in the nutrition science.
