About Study Course
Objective
To provide future public health specialists with basic knowledge and understanding of the nature of the most frequent diseases in order to form a solid foundation for further studies, analysis of the epidemiological situation and scientific research in public health.
Prerequisites
Human anatomy. Prior knowledge of physiology as well as histology or cell biology is desirable.
Learning outcomes
As a result of completing the study course, the student will know and be able to reasonably explain the nature, causes and risk factors of various diseases and general pathological processes, pathogenesis and expression thereof in clinical processes, laboratory and imaging examinations, as well as possible disease complications, consequences and outcomes.
The student will be able to reasonably evaluate the pathogenesis of the most common diseases, relate it to the clinical manifestations of the diseases and the basics of diagnosis; will be able to orient oneself in pathogenetically based classifications of diseases and pathological processes, as well as in risk factors for health disorders. Consequently, the student will have acquired the basic skills necessary to analyse epidemiological information and organise scientific research in the field of public health.
The acquired competences cover the pathogenesis of diseases of various organs and systems thereof, create an understanding of the pathological processes occurring in the body as the basis of clinical manifestations and serve as a basis for further studies in the field of public health.
