About Study Course
Objective
The objective of the study course is to help acquire the knowledge to plan, organise, control, lead and ensure the appropriate implementation of the care process in midwifery practice.
Prerequisites
General psychology, foundations of public health, foundations of law, computer skills.
Learning outcomes
As a result of completing the study course, students will be able to define the functions of midwives in maintaining health. To formulate and explain midwives’ work organisation models and management styles. To outline the organisational structure of health care in Latvia, the levels of health care. Will be able to describe the application of general management principles and specifics thereof in the national health care system. Will be able to analyse the basic principles of the quality management system.
Able to describe the quality management system of medical treatment services, which includes quality control of medical treatment services; processing of patient complaints and recommendations; analysis of medical treatment results; improving the quality of medical treatment services, motivating staff and applying opportunities for evaluating and improving the psychological climate.
Able to explain the importance of the accessibility of the environment of the medical treatment facility and explain the possibilities of ensuring accessibility to different groups of people.
Students are able to analyse and evaluate the quality management of health services. Able to evaluate psychosocial factors and apply methods for evaluation thereof in the work process.
