Objective

To create an opportunity for students to acquire knowledge about the principles of counselling relationship with clients/patients and their peculiarities in different counselling approaches; to develop understanding and skills to create a safe counselling environment; to develop and train communication skills with clients/patients; to use therapeutic interventions and techniques in the context of the psychologist's work.

Prerequisites

Professional activity and ethics of psychologist I, Personality psychology, Developmental psychology, Clinical psychology.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Describe the differences between psychological counseling and psychotherapy, describe the principles of counseling relationship with client / patient and compare their characteristics in different counseling approaches, describe and explain the stages of the individual counseling process, identify therapeutic interventions and describe counseling environment.

Skills

Reflects on their skills and experience and is able to provide feedback to their classmates on their skills. Expresses an empathic attitude towards client/patient (classmate).

Competence

Applies counseling micro-skills according to the context of the situation, is able to establish a counseling relationship with client/patient; make a deal. Recognize the counseling skills used in their own and others' work.
