Objective

To develop a holistic and contemporary perspective on human health issues; to gain a comprehensive understanding of the medical and social rehabilitation goals, objectives and practical use in medical and social aspect in Latvia, Europe and globally. To develop an understanding of rehabilitation services marketing organization.

Prerequisites

Anatomy, physiology, basics of physical and rehabilitation medicine, natural sciences, basics of economics.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Students will understand, will be able to name and describe the types and services in rehabilitation, and understand the regulatory and economic environment for rehabilitation services. Students will orient in services (health tourism products) preparation and will be able to define the place for selected business or service in the market, to navigate in a market economy and to apply the appropriate marketing strategies.

Skills

Students will be able to describe human functioning and to choose the appropriate rehabilitation services for different types of rehabilitation periods. Will be able to assess market demand, to prepare appropriate health tourism products (rehabilitation) and prepare their marketing strategies, as well as to assess customer satisfaction with the service provided.

Competence

Students will be able to evaluate interaction of the patient's/ client's health status and functional limitations and to plan a rehabilitation process accordingly, by integrating a variety of services. Will be able to make decisions about selecting rehabilitation service marketing strategies and to develop strategies as a document.
