About Study Course
Objective
1. Acquire principles of pharmaceutical care.
2. Develop counselling competence about the appropriate and safe use of medicines.
Prerequisites
Pharmacology, pharmacotherapy, communication psychology, ethics in pharmacy.
Learning outcomes
Student knows: definition and principles of pharmaceutical care, classification of drug therapy problems, differences between different communication models, principles of differential diagnosis in pharmaceutical care.
Student is able to: identify conditions and barriers to successful collaboration, identify patient/client needs, medication problem(s), co-morbidities, current and past medication, formulate indication, classify medication therapy problems, formulate aim of medication therapy, analyse patient/client experience and use it in the counselling process, explain the proper use and storage of the medicine according to the needs of the client/patient, explain the possible side effects and how to deal with them, explain the possible interactions and how to solve them, use evidence-based, up-to-date information.
Consulting of pharmacy patients/clients on over-the-counter and prescription medications.
