Objective

To strengthen the understanding of students about the use of static images in visual culture and to improve research competences for the analysis of static images.

Prerequisites

Knowledge and critical understanding of the history of static image, and the use of static images in visual culture.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

Capable of demonstrating that they know and understand latest scientific image theories and insights, know image research methodology.

Skills

Able to independently evaluate and select appropriate research methods for scientific research on static image, has made a contribution to supplementing of knowledge or skills or given new insights to existing knowledge and application thereof in practice, while implementing an original research. The research is qualified at the level of an internationally quotable publication.

Competence

Students independently propose up-to-date static image research ideas, plan, structure and are able to lead a personal research project on the use of static images in visual culture.
