Objective

Obtaining knowledge about surgical diseases, their etiology, clinical picture, diagnostics and treatment options.

Prerequisites

Normal anatomy, physiology and pathology of the human.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

On completion of the study course the student will acquire knowledge about etiology, pathogenesis, clinical picture, diagnostics, treatment principles and prevention of surgical pathology in the context of patient care.

Skills

On successful completion of the study course students will be able to
• collect anamnesis;
• perform physical examination of the abdomen and thyroid using palpation, percussion and auscultation.

Competence

On completion of the study course, students should be able to:
• analyse date acquired during examination of the patient;
• analyse current surgical issue, interpret laboratory and radiological, endoscopic investigation data;
• formulate full clinical diagnosis;
• determine indications for conservative and operative treatment.
