About Study Course
Objective
Students will acquire knowledge of the topical issues on urgent and elective abdominal, thoracic, cardio-vascular surgery, transplantology and urology.
Prerequisites
Knowledge achieved during 1-10th semesters in anatomy, histology, physiology, pathophysiology and surgery.
Learning outcomes
• discuss issues on urgent and elective thoracic, cardio-vascular surgery, transplantology and urology;
• describe the topical issues on aetiology and pathogenesis, treatment and prevention of surgical diseases;
• describe the application of cardiopulmonary bypass systems, transplantology and endourological operations.
• prepare a patient for thoracic surgery and evaluate the efficiency of preparation;
• examine patients with trophic changes in extremities due to arterial and venous aetiology and diagnostics of pancreatobiliary system.
• interpret symptoms of thoracic, urologic, cardiac and vascular diseases;
• describe principles of transplantology;
• analyse results of patient examination;
• prepare necessary laboratory and instrumental investigation plan for the patient;
• analyse a surgical case;
• interpret data acquired from laboratory and instrumental investigation methods;
• formulate and justify a full clinical diagnosis;
• plan treatment tactics for a surgical clinical case;
• define indications for surgical and conservative treatment.
