Sickness Absence Policy
There are 5 steps to follow if you get sick.
- STEP 1: Fill out application to excuse your absence
To submit your sick note visit MyRSU > e-services > applications and inquiries > change of status > application for excused absence. The application should be filled in 5 working days after returning to RSU.
If there were colloquia or exams during your absence that you did not take, you can take them afterwards according to an individually set date and time. If, however, you submit the note later than 5 days after you get well, you will not be able to take colloquia or exams on an individual basis.
- STEP 2: Inform academic staff
Ask your group mates to inform the lecturer that you are ill and will be absent and/or ask the secretary of the department to inform the professor or teacher of your absence.
- STEP 3: See a doctor
Make a doctor's appointment through the Health and Wellbeing page and request a sick note.
- STEP 4: Catch up with classes
In order to catch up with your studies, you should first consult your group mates (copy what they have written down in the classes and ask about homework for upcoming classes) and only then your professors, if necessary. There are a set amount of classes in each department that you have to participate in – regardless of whether you have missed these classes due to illness or any other reason.
