Assessment
Unaided Work:
The student independently studies the literature offered in the study programme by creating a summary of obtained information. Participation in discussions on specific clinical cases, analysis of therapy, prevention and care. Preparation and analysis of clinical cases and care protocols during training.
Assessment Criteria:
a. Attendance of classes and activity during classes b. Volume of theoretical and practical knowledge in the theory test
Final Examination (Full-Time):Exam
Final Examination (Part-Time):
Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:To master knowledge on objective of care of neurological patients and treatment principles in outpatient practice. To plan, provide and evaluate care appropriate for a neurological patient. The student will have obtained knowledge allowing: • to understand the specifics of neurological diseases; • to know the most common reasons and mechanisms of neurological syndromes and diseases; • to evaluate complaints of patients about symptoms of a nervous system damage, its significance and impact in clinical practice.
Skills:The student will be able: • to use the obtained knowledge in case for neurological patients, to recognise characteristic complaints, to collect data in a targeted way; • to formulate care problems, to plan care for a neurological patient; • to recognise patients with visual, hearing and speaking disorders, to establish full communication; • to use creative approach in solving different problems of a neurological patient and to integrate knowledge and skills of other clinical courses in care for a neurological patient; • to provide psychoemotional support to the patient and his/her immediate family, to educate them. When mastering the study course, students will master evaluation of neurological diseases, course and prognosis of the disease; skills to use the obtained knowledge in care for neurological patients and understanding of the specifics of diseases of neurological patients, recognition of the most characteristic complaints and ability to conduct a basic examination of neurological patients, as well as formulation of care problems, planning of care for a neurological patient. In the study course, students will master the skills of establishing fully-fledged communication with a neurological patient, to provide psychoemotional support to the patient and his/her immediate family, as well as skills to educate the patient and their immediate family.
Competencies:The student will be able: • to participate in planning of care for a neurological patient; • to determine, in cooperation with other medical practitioners, the care tactics for an individual patient based on a psychosocial approach; • to evaluate short-term and long-term effects and prognostic tasks of treatment and prevention activities for patients with nervous system diseases.
