Preliminary Knowledge: | Interpersonal communication in health care, functional and pathological physiology, internal and surgical diseases. | ||||||||
Objective: | Promote understanding of the etiology, symptoms, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of psychosomatic disorders; to develop the skills of building a therapeutic relationship between a midwife and a patient; promote the learning and application of medical psychotherapy techniques in clinical work. | ||||||||

Assessment | |||||||||
Unaided Work: | Familiarize yourself with appropriate literature before each lesson, prepare questions. Prepare clinical case descriptions of patients from your practice, according to the topic of the lesson. At the end of the course, each student must fill out the study course evaluation form. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Criteria for evaluating students' knowledge: I. Knowledge – ability to define 60%: 1. Criteria for patients' mental health (15%) 2. Patients' psychological protection mechanisms (15%) 3. Principles of midwife-patient relationship building (15%) 4. The family system, the emotional disturbances caused by it, their importance in the origin of psychosomatic disorders (15%) II. Skills: 40%: 1. Midwives - basics of building patient relations, communication with patients (20%) 2. Midwives - elements of patient support and crisis therapy (20%) The exam grade is cumulative. It consists of: 1. Intermediate exam – 50%. At the teacher's choice: • Video material analysis and/or • Description of the clinical case and/or • Open questions at the beginning of the lesson and/or • Multiple choice test and/or • Preparation of a presentation on the subject of the lesson. 2. Final exam (50%) – electronic multiple-choice test available in e-studies or organized in person, on the topics covered in the course. Automatic crediting of the final exam is possible if the following criteria are met: -excellently passed mid-term exam; -100% attendance of classes and lectures; - active participation in discussions and role plays. - prepared one presentation of your choice: a) cycle lesson topic (literature review); b) clinical case; c) the latest research (according to the topic of the lesson). | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | Students will acquire knowledge about the interaction of psychic and somatic processes, basic knowledge about the process of psychotherapy and competence in the formation of midwife-patient therapeutic relationships. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students will develop the ability to build a therapeutic relationship with the patient and acquire skills in providing psychological support. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Students will be able to analyze the role of biological, emotional and social factors in the etiology and pathogenesis of diseases. To understand and analyze the need for psychotherapy for pregnant women, to understand the diagnostic criteria and the need for combined therapy. | ||||||||
