Study course description
Preliminary Knowledge:
Biology according to high school curriculum.
Objective:
To get a general idea of ​​the structure and functions of the human body, regulation mechanisms of the human body, as well as ​​the main pathological processes, etiology and pathogenesis of the most common disoders. To provide knowledge on health promotion, disease prevention and the ability to apply this knowledge in problem solving within the scope of speciality.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Reading of compulsory bibliography and methodical materials in e-studies. Discussions in small students groups during practical classes and lectures on a given problem / question. Submission of independent work within the specified time period.
Assessment Criteria:
The final assessment consists of 3 categories - attendance + independent work + final exam grade. Attendance is mandatory (the course is passed with 100% attendance). The development takes place in the form of an essay. Test method: • short written tests or oral control questions after learning each topic; • final exam: written exam.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Describe the normal structure and main functions of the following systems – musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, respiratory, nervous, endocrine, digestive, reproductive, urinary. Explain the most common disorders in these systems. Explain pathological processes such as inflammation, hypoxia, tumor, stress, fever, pain. Describe health promotion and prevention of most common diseases.
Skills:Choose and apply strategies to promote health and prevent the most common diseases in their clients within the competence of the social worker. Use understanding of the structure, functions and disorders of human body in solving professional tasks and making decisions within the competence of a social worker.
Competencies:Analyze bodily structure and functions necessary for optimal human functioning and their disorders, in the context of disability in clients of social worker. Counselling clients make recommendations for health promotion and prevention within the competence of a social worker.
