Unaided Work: | The students independently study handout materials, at the seminars they participate in the discussions about the content, do situation analysis, they prepare for the tests about topics covered in this course. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Attendance of classes, performance in study tests, preparation of individual work and presentations, written exam. Practical assignments make up 60% of the course assessment (10% – an essay on team management challenges, 10% – a seminar on the importance of resources, 10% – a seminar on planning method and plan development, 10% – a seminar on idea management, 20% – a seminar on the preparation and presentation of the study subject), written exam – 40%. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | Students will be able to: • name the classical management theories, theoretical grounds of organization; • understand the essence of the main functions of management – planning, organizing, motivating and controlling; • explicate the meaning and role of a manager in an organization. | ||||||||
Skills: | Students will be able to: • analyze various leadership styles, their advantages and disadvantages; • understand the processes of decision making and communication; • estimate the factors of the development of management theory; • discuss about the predecessors of the management theories. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Students will be able to: • analyse the influence of internal and external environmental factors on the achievement of goals of the organization; • analyze the process of controlling; • analyze the factors of decision-making; • elucidate the role of leadership in resolution of conflicts, situations of change and stress; • apply various methods of conflict resolution; • substantiate the need for human resource management (HR), apply personnel and team management methods. | ||||||||
