Preliminary Knowledge: | Secondary school level skills of Latvian. | ||||||||
Objective: | To develop students’ knowledge and understanding of the basic principles of terminology and using correct Latvian language in terminology of pharmacy, including improvement of Latvian language skills, in order to facilitate professional growth. | ||||||||

Unaided Work: | Homework with specific tasks: explanation and analysis of terminology; individual and/or group discussion. | ||||||||
Assessment Criteria: | Evaluation criteria of the homework: timely execution, analysis according to given criteria, participation in a discussion. At the end of the course – a written test including theoretical and practical tasks. Evaluation percentage: homework (50%), exam (50%). At the end of the course, the student must fill the course evaluation survey. | ||||||||

Learning Outcomes | |||||||||
Knowledge: | Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will be able to: understand various aspects of term development and usage; recognize suitable sources of terminology; evaluate and analyse usage of pharmacy terminology in various texts. | ||||||||
Skills: | Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will be able to: evaluate and edit pharmacy texts in terminological aspect; use correct terminology when translating pharmacy texts from other languages; use professional vocabulary in interaction and communication with customers. | ||||||||
Competencies: | Upon successful completion of the study course, the participant will be able to understand and use medicine and pharmacy terminology in Latvian, use suitable pharmacy terminology in various texts and successfully communicate with customers. | ||||||||
