Preliminary Knowledge:
Periodontology, Preventive dentistry, Dental Public health, Therapeutic stomatology (Cariology, Endodontics), Communication with a Patient, Oral Pathology, Emergency Medical Care, Prothetics in Dentistry, Dental Surgery.
Objective:
To develop and realise a plan for oral health education, prevention and clinical treatment, its precise and positive accomplishment individually for each patient in care institutions for elderly people.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Prepare a presentation for seniors in social centers on oral health and prevention using lecture materials and scientific literature. Present a presentation in social centers. Active participation in classes, working with seniors. Fill out the course evaluation questionnaire.
Assessment Criteria:
Rating cumulative. 30% of the rating consists of a presentation to social centers, 30% a rating on working with seniors in the clinic. In conclusion, a written test, which accounts for 40% of the final rating. The test includes multiple-choice questions on topics learned in lectures. The test is passed if 55% of correct answers are provided, which are converted into scores in accordance with the RSU Rules.

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Knowledge of gerontology; peculiarities of the older patients' body; understanding of pathological processes in the mouth of the elderly; knowledge in the treatment of elderly patients.
Skills:Ability to motivate and organise a referral to specialists for the treatment of pathological forms that are within the competence of different kind of specialists. When working in clinic, to choose treatment methods and materials appropriate to the patient's age and health status; skill to find contact with older people and choose appropriate recommendations for prophylactic remedies.
Competencies:To identify risk groups according to elderly patients' general health condition and bad habits during clinical session of dental care. To identify risk groups according to patients' skills in oral hygiene, saliva testing, intensity of caries, periodontal and oral mucosa conditions and occlusion. Will be able to educate and develop individual care plans within their competence for elderly patients.
