Preliminary Knowledge:
In public health and health promotion philosophy, public health and care in dentistry, prevention of dental diseases.
Objective:
To discover and analyse the link of the knowledge acquired during the study with the practical work of a dental hygienist in oral health education and promotion.

Assessment
Unaided Work:
Attendance at lectures and classes is mandatory. Read evidence-based scientific literature on health promotion and education, prepare scientific reviews. Prepare oral health-promoting presentations, booklets, posters, videos, to educate dental patients (different age groups). Educate children and their parents in kindergartens, pre-schools or primary schools about oral health promotion. Practice evaluation books - production of a report. Defending practice. Completion of the course evaluation questionnaire.
Assessment Criteria:
Practice report and compliance of the design of practice materials with the design requirements. Implementation of educational classes and projects in practice. The final rating shall consist of: 50% attendance of classes, self-employed work in classes, home - preparation of presentations and 50% report on attendance of kindergartens, pre-school educational institutions or schools (report and advocacy of practice).

Learning Outcomes
Knowledge:Students will know the principles and approaches of oral health promotion and education, as well as dietary recommendations related to dental caries and dental erosions. Oral health needs assessment. Public health approaches to dental injury prevention.
Skills:Students will be able to evaluate the attitudes and knowledge of children and young people about the possibilities of promoting oral health. Provide dietary recommendations for dental caries and dental erosions, evaluate feeding systems in kindergartens and schools. Take preventive measures and provide acute assistance in cases of dental injuries.
Competencies:Evaluate principles, approaches of oral health promotion and education, use of preventive programmes and strategies opposite to treatment regimes in dentistry. Educate children in kindergartens, primary schools and schools on promoting oral health. Also inform parents and teachers of children about oral health promotion options.
