The International Student Association is running a lifeguard training course for International students in Rīga from 9 November to 7 December, a recurring event that will be held every Friday from 18:45–20:30 at the Latvian Army Indoor Pool, Krustabaznīcas iela 9, Rīga.
Make a difference and become a lifeguard! If you are already a lifeguard, then stay fit and practice with us!
Together with the Latvian lifeguards, learn and practice all the lifeguarding techniques in the water including:how to get a patient out of the water, discussing the risks in and near the water and how to prevent ourselves and others from life-threatening situations!
Requirements: Be a safe swimmer
What to bring: Swimming clothes
Cost: The entrance fee for the pool, which will be around 5 € each.
Where: Meet at the pool entrance, which is the Latvian Army Indoor Pool opposite the Alfa shopping centre.
Taught by: The course will be conducted by Sarah Liebner, an experienced lifeguard-instructor for the German Lifesaving Institution (DLRG).
We highly advise you to join us on a regular basis, to maintain your skills and stay up-to-date.
German-speaking students can complete the course by taking the DLRG lifeguard-certificate. So far, the theoretical test is only available in German.
