On Thursday 27 September, Rīga Stradiņš University (RSU) will hold guest lectures given by Associate Professor Dr. Edward Leigh Gibson of Roehampton University, (UK) and Professor Janina Petkevičienė (Kaunas, Lithuania), organised by the RSU Department of Sports and Nutrition at the Faculty of Public Health and Social Welfare.
The guest lecturers in brief
Associate Professor Edward Leigh Gibson (pictured) has a PhD in Psychology from the University of Birmingham. In 1989 Associate Professor Gibson joined the London Institute of Neurology where he conducted research in the neurochemistry of appetite, anxiety and stress. In 2005 Assoc. Prof. Gibson also gained the qualification of nutrition specialist (dietician).
Professor Janina Petkevičienė (pictured) has a PhD and a medical degree from Kaunas Medical Institute. Since 2010. Prof. Petkevičiene is a junior researcher with the Cardiology Institute at Kaunas Medical Institute as well as a senior researcher at the Biomedical Research Institute at Kaunas University of Medicine.
